Question: Discuss about the Comparison Of Self Care and Need of Training. Answer: Comparison The two articles selected for comparison focuses on the issue of self-care and its importance. The main point of first article by Chow Kalischuk (2008) was on the importance of self-care for the nurses andnursing students in Canada. They were taught about the need of self-care for them as well as for the patients. Whereas the second article focuses on a broader, range of students and nurses and assess their own knowledge about healthcare and their ability to spread that knowledge in a larger population. The focus of the study was bigger and effective in the second article, as the students were able to practice the self-care on them as well as they taught others to do them same (Chow Burrell, 2014). Self-care is an important aspect to become the best version of ourselves in every passing day. Prioritizing the needs in life and slowing the frequency of incidences happening around can help to upgrade the self and enhances the quality of mental health (Myers et al., 2012). The first ar ticle focuses on this aspect and uses questionnaire to estimate the knowledge of it withinnursing pupils. Researchers focuses on four main activities, like meeting daily needs, engagement in health promotional activities, health and healing modalities and assessment was done. Majority of students accepted that they sleep 6 to 8 hours every day and they keep themselves hydrated and focuses on their nutrition level. On the other hand, the second main point of the first assignment is, it focuses on the need of training to the educators and a change in the study module, so that students can be aware of it from the commencement of their profession (Chow Kalischuk, 2008). The second article lacks this aspect and only focuses on the ability of the student to spread the importance of self-care. The results determined that from the aspect of sleep, students were having an average of 6.7 hours of sleep. 60 percent of students were having 8 hours sleep, whereas 39 percent students accepted that they are deprived of a fair sleep. Hawaii has the lowest hours of average sleep with 52 percent of students not been able to have 8 hours of sleep. The set time for self-care was the another factor the researchers tried to evaluate and found that in Hawaii, 68 percent of students were unable to set even 60 minutes for self-care. Whereas, in America fifty-two out of sixty students accepted they spend 60 minutes in self-care every day. These are the two main points of both the article and comparison has been made depending on the idea and result of research conducted. These articles has enlightened me as a nurse to the importance of self-care for myself as well as for the patients. Proper sleep, nutrition, time for good relationships and myself are some of the aspects of self-care that can help me to be alert during my profession and understand the needs of my patients without any delay.
